Beaches

Langkawi beaches are simply beautiful and attract visitors from all over the globe. The lovely breeze, the gentle waves and the balmy weather entice travellers to take delight in the mesmerising beauty of it all. There are plenty of famous beaches all around the main island and some lesser-known ones on neighbouring smaller islands. Pantai Cenang, Datai Bay, Tanjung Rhu, Pantai Tengah, Pantai Kok, Pulau Pasir and Pulau Gasing are some of the major beaches here.

 

Wildlife

The rich ecology of Langkawi Island makes it a perfect spot where wildlife can flourish. The world’s only flying primate – the cloaked monkey can be spotted on the island’s limestone caves; and there are over 200 bird species on the island drawing the attention of birdwatchers from all over the world. Besides, wildlife enthusiasts would love to spot flying foxes, flying dragons and flying snakes here. It is also home to Malaysia’s largest aquarium, the Underwater World Langkawi.

 

Natural landscape

From lush rainforests and bird-filled parks to mountainous regions and dreamy beaches, Langkawi has it all. The second largest island in Langkawi, Pulau Dayang Bunting is a must-visit; you can spot monkeys, swim in a lake and trek through jungles here. There’s no end to adventures on Langkawi Islands; from splashing in the waters of Pulau Beras Basah to snorkelling amongst colourful corals in Pulau Payar Marine Park, you can do it all!

Langkawi is well known for its duty-free shopping, something that’s loved by travellers. There are a number of duty-free malls in the island making it the perfect place for your shopping sprees. Zone Shopping Paradise, Jetty Point, Coco Valley and Teow Soon Huat are some of the spots for a perfect Malaysian shopping experience. From branded bags to handicrafts to liquor, everything is available here. And if you love bargaining, you can also explore the locals markets where you can grab local handicrafts and souvenirs at great prices!

 

Food

Langkawi is a delight for gastronomes. The food here is a true reflection of the Indian, Chinese, Malaysian and Thai culinary influences; and you can take delight in a dizzying array of flavourful dishes here. Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, and Nasi Tomato are some unique rice dishes one should not miss. You can also head to the colourful night markets at different locations of the island for great street food and local delicacies.
