Far away from the clichéd reputation of Thailand being a place for parties and sex shops and Go-Go bars; this place is deeply rooted in Buddhism and there are several…
With its beautiful warm tropical climate, amazing food, and endless list of incredible things to see and do, there’s no wonder Thailand holidays are so popular. Unsurprisingly, sun, sand and sea are major attractions, and there are so many breath-taking beaches in Thailand for you to enjoy during your trip. Thailand has more than 1,500 miles of coastline and offers all kinds of fabulous beaches to suit every taste. Whether it’s peaceful, secluded beaches you want or spots with lots of places to party, Thailand beaches offer it all. Thailand beach holidays are much sought after any time of the year, but especially during the long cold winter in Britain.
Where are the best beaches in Thailand
Thailand has an outstanding range of beaches along its extensive coast, but the southern part of the country has a huge range of large and small islands, from the famous Phi Phi islands to the biggest island in Thailand, Phuket. Devoted beach lovers will enjoy exploring this area during their holiday.
Phuket
Phuket is one of the main places people think of when they consider Thailand beach holidays. This beautiful island has a long sandy coast facing west where there are endless sunsets to be admired. Phuket has everything, from the peaceful lapping waves of Freedom Beach to the hectic nightlife area of Patong, and everything in between. The north-western part of Phuket is quieter than the south, and there are some truly luxurious Thailand beach resorts in this part of the island which are easily accessible from the airport.
Pattaya and Hua Hin
Pattaya and Hua Hin are convenient because they are not far from Bangkok, and Hua Hin is where royalty used to go on holiday. The country’s most longstanding beach resort, Hua Hin offers the best beach close to Bangkok and has a lively night market and great seafood.
Ko Lanta
Families may enjoy visiting Ko Lanta, often referred to as Koh Lanta, in Krabi province. There are over 50 small islands in Ko Lanta, and Klong Dao is the largest and most developed beach in this area. Ko Lanta is one of the most beautiful areas to visit in Thailand and has some of the best beaches in the country. With its shallow waters, minimal rocks, and beautiful powdery sand, it’s perfect for children to enjoy. Plus, you can get ice cream!
Kata Beach and Bang Tao Beach
The wide-open crescent of Kata Beach is divided into sections, Kata Noi and Kata Yai. Kata Yai offers delightful swimming and a large range of hotels and beach resorts, not to mention some sophisticated restaurants. Further north, Bang Tao beach is the second longest on the island at nearly 6km long. If you want a touch of St Tropez Thai style, you will find popular Catch Beach Club and Xana Beach Club.
Koh Samui
Koh Samui lies on the opposite side of the country to Phuket and is also extremely popular amongst tourists thanks it’s developed and remote beach areas. Chaweng Beach is the most developed on Samui, it’s wide open and packed with holiday resorts, bars and nightclubs. For those who want to enjoy swimming in the day, and partying at night, Chaweng is a great spot.
