Abu Dhabi, however, has retained its old world charm and there are several souks and local bazaars that you can go to and find yourself awe-inspired by the intricately designed carpets, antiques that transport you to old times, jewellery that will bedazzle you, and spices and scents that will tingle your senses. Some of the best local souks you can visit are the Carpet Souk, Old Souk, Gold Souk Abu Dhabi, Souk Qaryat Al Beri, Souk Al Zafarana and Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre.

The mosques
Abu Dhabi has several mosques that you can visit, not just to pray but also to admire the craft and intelligence used in the architecture of the same. Sheikh Zayed Mosque is one of the world’s largest mosques and among the most visited attractions in the city. From the white domes to the gold infusions of colour, the ginormous carpet, the chandelier and the use of colour on the marble floor to the entire aura of the place – you will be left spellbound here. There are other mosques you can visit too such as Mary Mother of Jesus Mosque, Bangali Masjid and so on.
