We present to you a bunch of attractive spots that inspire thrill-seekers to grab the board and hit the refreshing waters.

Hossegor, France

Often termed the ‘Surfing Capital of Europe’, Hossegor flaunts its fast and hollow waves along the 3-kilometre long beach stretch. The warm waters, consistent swells and other conditions are ideal for surfers. Surprisingly, the waves up in the north are larger in size than the ones in the south. In September and October, the water is warm and the waves are relatively smaller. The crowd is lesser too. These are probably the best months to surf in the Hossegor. Quicksilver Pro France is an exciting surf event held here annually in the month of October.

Jeffreys Bay, South Africa

Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape Province is a renowned surf destination and holds the yearly World Surf League at Supertubes. Supertubes is one of the most vibrant sections of the bay. Some of the other sections are Kitchen Windows, Magnatubes, Boneyards, Impossibles, and Salad Bowls. The waves here can range from 3 feet to 10 feet, though the frequent ones are usually from 4 feet to 8 feet. June to August is the best time for riding on the big waves. Jeffreys Bay is a well-developed zone comprising surf lodges, guest houses and apartments for international travellers. There are remarkable nature reserves, fishing spots and sand boarding facilities around the bay for those interested.

Lima, Peru

Lima has plenty of surfing spots, majority of them located in the southern part of the capital city. The waves are appropriate for surfers of diverse capabilities. Miraflores’ Waikiki and Makaha beaches are believed to be apt for amateurs. Skilled surfers can visit the Punta Hermosa. It has a beach identified as Pico Alto where waves can reach a height of four meters. For an average surfer, Cabelleros is an apt surfing point. Moreover, there are several surf schools in the region.

Huntington Beach, USA

Huntington Beach, a coastal city named after American businessman Henry E. Huntington, has a 15 kilometre long sandy beach with outstanding surfing options. The average height of the waves here is from two to four feet. Corky Carroll, David Nuuhiwa, Kim Hamrock, Timmy Turner and Brett Simpson are some of the prominent beach surfers who belong to the area. Further, you could enjoy your meals in the surf-themed restaurants here, serving delectable dishes, snacks and beverages.

Huntington has featured in numerous surf films such as Longboard Fever, Cosmic Children, Five Summer Stories, The Pursuit and Chasing the Dream.

Gold Coast, Australia

Australia’s Gold Coast has over 30 beaches patrolled by highly-experienced lifeguards. The southern portion of this coast has some of the best breaks. The waves split in both directions here. Rainbow Bay, Burleigh Heads, Currumbin and Snapper Rocks are some of the must-visit spots for the surfers. From the novice to intermediate to experts – all kinds of surfers will have something for them here.
